A Lesson on How to Detect Spyware

April 06, 2006 file found under Spyware News

In recent years, spyware has gone from a pesky problem to a major security threat. According to Forrester Research, corporations are increasingly turning to the latest antispyware tools to help control the spyware epidemic. Unfortunately, there's still many online users who are unaware of the threat that spyware poses or even of its presence on their computers.

Spyware is type of software application that gathers information about Internet users without their knowledge or consent and delivers that information to advertisers or others who have access to the information. Typically online users can get spyware by downloading freeware or shareware, email attachments, or by someone with access to a user’s computer.

Spyware Symptoms

If spyware is left undetected, it may take control of your computer which can lead to identity theft, a spring of pop-up ads in your browser, or it might even change your home page settings to send you to targeted Websites.

Spyware is difficult to detect and can be difficult to remove.

Detect, Find, Remove Spyware

First, before you install any software especially freeware, check if it's not spyware. Tip: Just type in the name of the program in any search engine followed by the word 'spyware'.

You should use a spyware scanner program to detect spyware to see whether you're infected with spyware. Once you are aware of the level of infection, you will be able to start the spyware removal process and take control of your computer.

Another method is to remove spyware manually. Keep in mind that spyware removal is a difficult process and you run the risk of damaging your computer. Manual spyware removal is not recommended. Using SpyHunter Spyware detection tool, you can quickly detect spyware applications from your system.
